Where do you live?
Born in Surrey, migrated to Kent and now live in the wilds of Somerset.
Passions?
I just love being outdoors, whether is in the garden, walking through the woods or sitting on the beach. The joy of being outside especially in spring when the birdsong is like music and the first call of the cuckoo is amazing. But I also love sitting on the beach watching the world go by and of course eating ice cream!
Favourite thing to do at the weekend?
My garden is a place where I can immerse myself and while away hours, knowing my family are nearby and so is the teapot.
Most memorable play, film, book or musical etc?
I am an avid reader and have shared many new books with my local book club through lockdown. My favourite read has got to be To Kill a Mocking Bird and definitely needs a revisit soon.
Best job you’ve ever had?
I have worked in tourism for many years but before I entered the industry, I did a short contract with Britain in Bloom for a local authority. We had amazing fun creating a garden from scratch in the centre of a shopping precinct overnight so on a Saturday morning when the shoppers arrived they were astounded.
Worst job and why?
A paper round inherited from my brother and sister. I hated going out in the dark on the cold mornings and probably still do.
What’s inspired you during lockdown?
I was furloughed from my previous job which enabled me to spend time in my community assisting those that needed it. Village life is where people depend on their neighbours and I was more than happy to help. The glorious weather of last summer also enabled me to walk at length every day and dig for England.
Why did you want to join LC + CC?
I’ve worked in the tourism industry for over 25 years and the pandemic has seriously affected the sector so I am delighted to be working with such a reputable company to rejuvenate and rebuild to become the vibrant industry it once was. It is fantastic to join a company that have a real wish to work within the industry to build the future.
